The evaporator fan is responsible for
noises coming from the freezer. It runs when the unit is cooling. The fan motor may be the problem. If you hear a
clicking, squealing or groaning sound, it could indicate that something is
wrong. Open the freezer door, and make sure to turn off
the fan/light switch. The fan may be the problem if the noise gets
louder when the door is open. There is no way to fix the fan motor
of the evaporator. You will need to replace it.
The Refrigerator's Back Makes Noise
The back of your refrigerator is where the
majority of moving parts are located. This will make the most noises. The condenser fan is the first thing you should
check if you have a self defrosting unit. You will
find the condenser fan at the back of your refrigerator. It is often hidden
behind a thin panel. Sometimes, the fan may become clogged with lint
or other debris. This can cause a clicking sound or buzzing noise. The thin
cover can be removed to reach the fan. After that, use a soft bristled brush to
clean the fan. Old toothbrushes work well! After the
fan has been cleaned of any dust or other materials replace the cover. You may need
to have the fan replaced if the noise continues after cleaning.
Your refrigerator may be making a loud,
rumbling or purring sound from the back. It is usually located in a small case about the
size of a football on the back. This case contains black or copper tubes and a
variety colored wires. It is usually sealed so that it cannot be
repaired by DIYers. To fix the problem, you'll need to call a
refrigerator repair technician.
The bottom of the refrigerator can make
noise
There are two possible sources of noise
coming from your refrigerator's bottom: Rattling from loose drain pans is the first and
easiest thing to fix. Tape the drain pan in place to stop the noise. If this
doesn't work, the defrost timing may be an issue. You will
find the defrost timing in the front of your unit, just behind the kickplate. This is a
heating element on the evaporator coil that cannot be fixed. You may
notice frost buildup in your freezer or refrigerator if you have trouble
setting the defrost timer. For installation of the refrigerator
repair component, contact an expert.
